For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.— Matthew 18:20
Parish Development supports the health of our parish, fosters community involvement, and encompasses a wide variety of activity.
Fellowship is alive and well at St. Paul’s as evidenced by monthly meetings of the Book Club and the Men’s Group. Movie Nights feature thought-provoking films and include a light supper. Each Sunday morning parishioners meet and greet each other at Coffee Hour under the auspices of the Welcome Committee. This same committee is developing a new initiative which will be called “First Impressions Count.” A Sunday morning picnic usually marks the beginning of the new program year and on Thanksgiving eve the parish enjoys a spaghetti supper, which supports our Youth Mission Project. A Shrove Tuesday pancake supper is not to be missed and an ice cream with strawberries social celebrates Pentecost.
Monthly notes with news of St. Paul’s to home-bound parishioners is a quick and easy way to bring joy into someone’s life. Funeral receptions are organized by loving, sensitive and dedicated parishioners. Members of the Stephen Ministry are sometimes called the “after people” because they arrive after a major life disruption and walk with people through the rough places in life. God is ever present in these caring relationships.
Our dedicated staff if assisted by office volunteers who answer the phone and perform whatever duties are needed. Members of the Property Committee are called upon to do skilled, labor intensive, and difficult work. While we all enjoy the fruits of their labor — it may be unseen and therefore may be under-appreciated. The Vestry, Communication, Stewardship and Finance Committees meet regularly, providing the leadership that is critical to the day-to- day life of our parish.
