The Renewal of Ministry: Welcoming a New Rector

Spread the news! St. Paul’s will be celebrating the new ministry of Fr. John M. Atkins on February 1, 2018. The service begins at 6:00 pm in the main church, followed by a dessert reception. This date marks one full year with our new priest.  Come meet Fr. John and join in the celebration!

In the Episcopal tradition, a new Rector is formally instituted by the Bishop and officially welcomed to the parish with symbolic gifts, prayers and celebration.  This liturgy is not only about the new priest, but about the entire ministry of the parish, clergy and laity alike. We are moving forward together!

Clergy from the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio as well as invited spiritual leaders from other traditions will attend. The St. Paul’s parish family invites the community at large to help us officially welcome Fr. John and his spouse, Ted Brown, to the Dayton community.

The Rev. John M Atkins came to St. Paul’s from Grace Church and the Incarnation in Philadelphia, PA.  He is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, with his certificate in Anglican Studies from General Theological Seminary in New York. He also holds a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Rutgers University. John is an accomplished organist as well.  After 28 years of ordained ministry, Fr. John has found his way to us! And we are so fortunate!

Please join us for the festivities! St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is located at 33 W. Dixon Avenue, Dayton, OH 45419. For more information, call the church office at 937-293-1154.
